3 Super Insightful Questions to Ask Yourself to Ditch Worry and Anxiety
Are you the type of person who is rarely satisfied like I once was?
Constantly worried and anxious, overthinking everything, and getting frustrated with yourself, others, and life's inconveniences.
For most of my 20s and early 30s, rather than feeling grateful for what I had, I found myself fixated on these thoughts:
Why am I not in a more prestigious division at my firm?
Why isn't my apartment better (even though I own it)?
Why don't I have a husband by now?
Why are NYC subways the worst?
I dwelled on past mistakes, stressed about future what-ifs, and got stressed about things out of my control.
Exhausting, right?
Then, five years ago, I had a game-changing realization that made me see why I've been so anxious, annoyed, and dissatisfied.
I was focusing on all the wrong things!
These three questions are my go-to tool for an immediate mindset reset that I still use to this day.
They are game-changing questions that I share with my clients.
So, are you ready to ask yourself these questions?
Q1. Do I focus on what I have or what’s missing?
Many achievers focus on what they lack to push themselves—it's endless and a total mood downer.
Shift to appreciating what you already have, and watch your joy and gratitude grow.
Q2. Do I focus on what I can control or cannot control?
Focus on what you can control, like prepping thoroughly for that big meeting. Getting caught up in the uncontrollable, such as potential outcomes or colleagues' opinions, just piles on needless stress.
At the end of the day, you have control over two things: your interpretation of events and your actions in response.
3. Do I focus on the past, present, or future?
As achievers, we often concentrate on the future, becoming anxious about upcoming results.
Remember: you can't change the past. Savor the good memories, live fully in the present, and feel excited—not anxious—about the future.
